The game scale is 30 miles per hex, two weeks per turn with units at division and corp level. Oceans of Fire is Rob Beyma's design of the conflict that raged in the Pacific from 1941 to 1945. This large, but playable, game features six countersheets covering the forces of Japan, the US and the Commonwealth forces that fought in this theater during WWII, as well as those forces of the various other nations that were engulfed in the conflict that enflamed the Pacific.

Oceans of Fire accurately reflects the spread of the conflict from Japan's starting home areas to across the Pacific at the start of the game. Eight turns cover the entire conflict, with some scenarios being shorter duration. Counters generally represent divisions or brigades for land units, generic air points for air assets, and 1-2 named capital ships (and their escorts) for naval vessels. Cards are included as an optional variant that reflect many of the historical events (e.g. Stillwell's Chinese forces, Japanese night naval proficiency, etc.) that add additional flavor to the game with little additional overhead.

Empires and Alliances is a strategic level simulation of the First World War. Players command the Central Powers and Allied forces that fought in Europe from 1914 to 1918. The map runs from the French Atlantic ports to Moscow and Rostov in the east. It includes St. Petersburg in the north and Italy and Greece (and the portion of the Ottoman Empire that encompasses modern day Turkey) in the south. There are off-board Boxes for the Caucasus and the Middle East.

The basic unit is the corps with a few divisions. The armies set up in their historical mobilization sectors.

There is a 1914 scenario which is played on all fronts. The Germans have to contend with a Russian advance as well as concentrating on the French. There is a nine-turn 1918 scenario where the Germans need to try to win quickly before American reinforcements overwhelm them. This scenario introduces tanks, stosstruppen, and air units. Then there is the four-year Campaign Game. Barring a quick victory in 1914, both players settle in for a war of attrition to exhaust their opponent.

Brief description:

The area map runs from one area south of Charleroi to Brussels and from one area west of Nivelles to one area east of Wavre.

The units are 5/8" counters. Types include infantry, cavalry, artillery, horse artillery, and leaders. Sizes are divisions and brigades with step reduction.

There are 12 tactical battle maps. The 6 named maps are: Quatre Bras, Sombreffe, Genappe, Wavre, Waterloo, and Brussels. The 6 generic terrain maps are: Forest, Woods, Town, Road/Wooded, Clear, and River.

There are three one battle map scenarios: Quatre Bras (an introductory scenario that can be played in 60-90 minutes), Ligny (2-3 hours), and Mont St. Jean (3-4 hours).

The Campaign game runs from the morning of June 16 to the afternoon of June 19. There are three 5 hour day turns and one night turn per calendar day.
