As a budding marine biologist, you’ve traveled across the globe exploring the hidden wonders of the underwater world. It’s been your lifelong dream to study the vibrant ecosystems of the coral reef, and now you are about to start 3 days of uninterrupted underwater exploration!

There’s only one problem, the day before you arrived, a typhoon hit the reef. All you can see now is one tiny coral, but hey…at least it’s a start! Most of the reef’s residents seem to have sought safety from the crashing waves out in the Open Ocean. They are just waiting for the waters to calm before returning home. Can you coax them back, and rebuild the reef into the vibrant ecosystem it once was?

Open Ocean is a card drafting and placement game for 1-5 players.

The goal is to create the highest scoring combination of colorful creatures in your Reef! Each turn Players:

PICK a card from their current hand
PLAY the card they picked into their Reef
PASS the remaining cards clockwise to the next player

Players are competing to collect creatures as they are passed around the table, and to attract additional creatures from the Ocean (as shared pool of cards in the center of the table)before their opponents do.

Players can use special cards to snag specific fish from the Ocean or an opponent’s reef and turn the tides in their favor.

At the end of three rounds players score points and earn bonuses for the type and placement of creatures they collected over the course of the game. The player with the highest scoring reef wins!

Winterhaven Wonders is an expansion to Winterhaven Woods. It introduces 3 new card types:

WINTERHAVEN LEGENDS - These cards change up how each species works during the game. They add a level of variability to each game, and give you a new strategies to focus on. They are shuffled into the Woods deck and when they come up in your hand they are placed in the center of the table. You draw a card to replace it in your hand, just like wolves in 2P. They then affect all players for the rest of the game because no one player can own a Legend.

MOTHER NATURE CARDS - These cards are drafted and played into a players meadow during the plant and populate phase. They may then be used on a future round to alter play.

VARIABLE BONUSES - These bonuses randomize the end game scoring bonuses from game to game.

Expansions Winterhaven Woods: Winterhaven Wonders

Winterhaven Woods is a 1-6 player strategic card drafting and set collection game that takes place over 3 rounds and typically takes 15-20 min. It features light player interaction each round, and customizable levels of "take that" mechanics.

In Winterhaven Woods, players are preparing the animals of the forest to endure the long winter months. They do so by planting trees to create woods, populating their woods with creatures, and using their predators to hunt creatures left exposed in player's meadows. Players may also use steal cards to swipe cards from their opponent's woods & meadow, however utilizing too many incurs a penalty.

Each round, players will draft cards, then plant & populate their woods, building it up over the course of the game. Player's may also collect predators in their meadow to hunt with, taking advantage of creatures not able to be populated by other players.

After three rounds players total their scores, bonuses and penalties, and the player with the most points wins!
