Peak Oil Profiteer is a standalone board game set in the Peak Oil universe. As the top executive of an oil corporation, you are sent to a war-torn nation that's got a lot of oil — and no one who can help sell it! That's where you come in: Your task is to make the most cash before corruption ruins the land.

This card-driven tactical game features area control, simultaneous action selection, and a healthy dose of player interaction. Progressing in rounds, players improve their workforce by investing in powerful consultants and vie for influence over the nation's three warring factions. As control of the oil fields passes between the hands of the so-called "government", the "National Liberation Front", and the noble "Guerilla Militia" you have to ensure you're in the right place at the right time with the right faction leader in your pocket.

Double guess your competitors, blackmail politicians, and sell weapons to whoever needs them to ensure you keep the oil — and money — flowing in your direction. Remember, your sole goal is to make the most profit before corruption destroys this sorry region.

Welcome to the near future. Welcome to Spillover, the first expansion for Peak Oil.

Spillover enriches and diversifies Peak Oil by adding variant cards, which change the fundamental rules of the game, and new Demand, Risk, and Security markers. You need the base game to play.

The variant cards introduce new ways to play Peak Oil. They're divided into the categories General, Agents, PR, Endgame, and Scoring, depending on the aspect of the game that they affect. In each game, you can use up to one from each of the five categories, allowing for up to 42 millions of different combinations (made up number).

The new cardboard markers can be used with or without the variant cards. There are new refineries to ship oil to, new dangers to be found on the shipping routes and new Security markers.

'You are the top manager at one of the big oil companies, tasked with leading your enterprise into a future without oil. With peak oil looming ahead, you try to squeeze the last drops from oil fields around the world to gather the resources to invest into various oil replacement technologies. While you may try to emerge from the coming crisis by regular means, your competitors will most probably not, forcing you to dirty your hands as well.

On your turn in Peak Oil, you assign your agents to different action spots on the board. If your agents are in the majority at any given action spot, or you decide to send mercenaries to their help, they squelch the competition there and allow you to take the linked action. Actions include developing and harvesting oil fields, building pipelines, hiring new agents, buying new ship contracts, investing in oil replacement technologies, conducting PR campaigns, engaging in piracy, and manipulating public opinion and oil prices.

After some time, the oil — represented by a set number of small barrels you draw from a bag when developing new oil fields — will run out. This is called "peak oil" and marks the end of the game. Players tally the value of the technologies in which they invested and promoted during the game. Whoever shaped the future best (i.e. gained favor for their company) wins.

Dune: The Dice Game is a dice-driven game set in the Dune Universe created by Frank Herbert. The players represent various Factions vying for control of Arrakis, the desert planet. Each of the 8 playable Factions has a small set of thematical special abilities that allow them to break certain rules in the game.

Each turn, you will need to politicize, ally and employ the means of Kanly wisely, recruit new troops, ship them to the surface, and attack in just the right spot. Fate, in the form of the dice, can be controlled to a certain degree but still might thwart your plans; Sandstorms and the mighty Shai-Hulud plague the surface of Arrakis; A charismatic leader might tip the balance in a forlorn combat in your favour.

The game ends when one Faction or Alliance is in control of a certain number of Arrakis’ strategic Regions at the end of their turn, or after 6 whole rounds.

Inspired by and based on both, this game tries to find a middle ground between the complexity and duration of Dune and the excessive simplicity of Dune Express while staying true to former’s general feel and steering closer to the lore of the original novels than both. Sounds a bit ambitious, I know.
