Evolution: New World |
Every ecosystem is a complex combination of living organisms and the environment. Even a small change in any element affects the entire system, but balance is usually restored quickly. However, sometimes a random event leads to the butterfly effect – an unpredictable cascade of changes that can completely transform the whole biosphere.
The Butterfly Effect expansion gives you a new and unique way to play Evolution: New World. In the box, you’ll find:
- 13 new traits and the Seashore Area. Add more gameplay depth and create dynamic survival strategies for your animals.
- The Solo mode. In the Alien World scenario you will fight 1 on 1 against the merciless Dominator and insatiable Devastator for supremacy or create your own monsters to compete with.
- Additional tokens. With the expansion, up to 6 players can enjoy Evolution together.
- Butterfly Effect scenario. Start a chain reaction of random events that affect the game’s course and change the evolutionary process.

Evolution: New World – Butterfly Effect |
The diversity of living organisms inhabiting our planet is astonishing. According to the theory of evolution, random mutations occur all the time, granting new traits to animals and plants. These traits are then tested through natural selection. Animals with beneficial traits propagate more successfully than others, expand their habitat areas, and effectively protect themselves against predators and unfavorable conditions. Such species dominate the ecosystem, while poorly adapted animals become extinct.
Evolution: New World is an updated and extended version of the basic Evolution: The Origin of Species game. It includes both well-known animal traits and new ones, complete with refined descriptions and colorful illustrations. Food is now generated using Area cards, and animals can use shelter to hide from predators.

Evolution: Climate – Playmat Laserox - Darwin's Coffer (Compatible with Evolution) |
Evolution: Climate is a standalone game that introduces climate into the Evolution game system.
In Evolution: Climate, players adapt their species in a dynamic ecosystem where food is scarce, predators lurk, and the climate can swing between scorching hot and icy cold. Traits like a Hard Shell and Horns can protect your species from Carnivores while a Long Neck will help them get food that others cannot reach. Heavy Fur and Migratory can protect your species from the cold while being Nocturnal or Burrowing will provide protection from the cruel desert sun. With over 200,000 ways to evolve your species, every game evolves into a different adventure.
The Climate standalone game dramatically changes game play with several simple additions to the Evolution base set:
Evolution: Climate changes Evolution from a two-dimensional game (dealing with the threat of Starvation and Carnivores) into a three-dimensional game (dealing with the threat of Starvation, Carnivores, and Climate effects) while increasing the vividness of the theme. It adds additional layers into what was already a dynamically strategic game.

Evolution: Flight, an expansion for Evolution, introduces avian species into the ecosystem. Now your species can swoop on unsuspecting prey from above, fly away from predators, or soar to a new location when food is scarce. Will the ability to fly propel you to new heights? Or will it bring your downfall? Explore the expanding Evolution world and find out!
With this expansion, you may now choose between creating a normal species and creating a flying species. Flying species have special costs and advantages:
Costs
1. You must discard 2 cards instead of 1 to create a flying species.
2. Flying species have a maximum body size of 3 instead of 6.
3. Flying species have an upkeep cost of food equal to their Body Size. The upkeep cost simulates the amount of food needed to maintain wings.
Advantages
1. Some of the new expansion traits, like Dive-Bomb and Brood Parasite, only work for flying creatures.
2. A species with Flight may take food from the Cliff, giving it an extra source of food.
3. A species with Flight cannot be attacked unless the attacking Carnivore also has the Flight trait.
4. If a species with Flight also has the Carnivore trait, you may discard from your hand to negate Symbiosis, Warning Call, or Climbing for when it attacks.
The expansion changes tactics and strategy dramatically, but it doesn't change the base game's core mechanics, so it's a snap to learn.

In Evolution, players adapt their species in a dynamic ecosystem where food is scarce and predators lurk. Traits like Hard Shell and Horns will protect your species from Carnivores, while a Long Neck will help them get food that others cannot reach. With over 4,000 ways to evolve your species, every game becomes a different adventure.
Evolution packs a surprising amount of variety for a game with simple rules. The variety comes from the synergies between the trait cards and from the different personalities at the table. Some players thrive on creating Carnivores to wreak havoc on their fellow players. Others prefer to stay protected and mind their own business. Evolution encourages both play styles by giving each of them multiple paths to victory. And it is the mix of play styles at the table that ultimately determines the eco-system in which the player are adapting. So gather your friends and see who can best adapt to the changing world around them.
