The Red Cathedral is a medium-weight strategy eurogame about the building of the St. Basil's Cathedral on Moscow in the XVI century.

You have to pick to pick 1 action out 4 possibles:

Secure a section of the Cathedral
You will build this section and for that you're rewarded with the chance of expanding your workshop with bonus tiles and/or helpers.

Go to the market
Move one die from the dice rondel and get the resources depicted. Also, activate any bonus tile and/or helper that you have linked to the dice you choose.

Send materials
Send up to 3 resources to a section in construction. If you finish it, you will be rewarded with money and experience.

Play a helper
Pay its cost in money and place it in your workshop.

Whenever you have constructed all of your possible sections, the game ends.

The Red Cathedral is a fast paced medium eurogame when you're building the St. Basil's Cathedral at the same time you develop the best workshop of the entire country.

Dancing with the tsars.

Red Cathedral made a well deserved splash on release but for some reason seemed to fizzle out relatively quickly. Now that there is a bit more wind in its sails due to the movers and shakers at SEUR, good luck finding a copy for the next while. This is a euro gamers "Curious Cargo" - a deceptively large and engaging experience in a diminutive box, coupled with a great price and good components. If you currently find yourself left out in the cold, maybe next time you'll re-evaluate your criteria of what is worth jumping in on before someone influential validates its goodness. This one is really a slam-dunk if you are a fan of the genre.

6 stars outta 5 ! This game are AMAZING!

Beyond the box which is perhaps not so attractive there is an excellent game. you play as architects who get contracts to deliver the resources and contribute to the construction of the cathedral. An original dice mechanics as well as combos will allow you to achieve your goals. The game is relatively simple, while being strategic. the abundance of cards, as well as advanced boards make it a game with high replayability. We had a huge crush from the first game. I highly recommend this game. It goes straight to my collection!
